Are You Actually Procrastinating or Just Not Supposed to Be Doing What You’re Doing?

July Lloyd's Simplero Blog Graphic (3)

Do you think you procrastinate because you’re lazy?

Procrastination isn’t about being lazy. Procrastination is about fear or misalignment. If you want to complete a project that is truly connected to your Soul’s vision, then most likely you’re procrastinating out of fear.

When you procrastinate on projects or decisions that are aligned with the highest expression of who you are, it’s because a part of you is afraid of the perceived rejection, failure, criticism, or success that would come if you finished your project.

Parts of you use procrastination as a protection mechanism because they have learned stories about your worth. They’re afraid that if you put your work out into the world, you will be rejected and experience the pain of not being good enough.

Procrastination requires a process that is deeper than just forcing yourself to do something or getting an accountability partner. It requires a deep exploration of the parts of you that have learned that you aren’t good enough or that you won’t be accepted if you and your truth are seen heard and experienced.

Later, I'll show you how I can support you with this healing process by Reorganizing the Energy of Your Procrastination, but first, I want to take a look at:

Procrastination vs. Misalignment Resistance

As I have already said, procrastination can be a protection mechanism. However, it can also be a call to course correct.

If what you want to do isn’t aligned with your highest good, you may find yourself resisting the task so that you can see that it isn't in alignment with your highest good. When you see that it isn’t in alignment, you have the opportunity to correct the course of your actions.

Resistance for course correction is often misinterpreted as procrastination. When a task is not aligned with your highest good, you will encounter struggles, obstacles, and lack of motivation because the task is not fueled from a place of alignment and deep purpose.

To find out if you’re experiencing procrastination or misalignment resistance, you have to ask yourself some revealing questions to see and feel the truth of your situation.

Here are some revealing questions to understand if you’re procrastinating or misaligned with the task at hand.

  1. Do I want to experience the journey of my task or is this task a means to an end?
  2. Does this task feel congruent with who I am or the person I want to grow into?
  3. What will it feel like to do this task? (What will the process of actually doing it feel like?)
  4. Do I really want to do this task?
  5. Is this task necessary for my growth and evolution?

As you ask yourself these revealing questions, you’ll start to feel the answer in your body. If you experience anger, anxiety about the task rather than the result of the task, urgency to get things done, or a feeling of ”let’s just get this done so that I can do something else”, then you most likely aren’t aligned with your task and you’re resisting it for course correction and not because you're procrastinating out of fear.

It’s time to learn the truth of your procrastination so that you can move forward and attract abundance while making an impact on this world. If you want some support with procrastination and living your purpose to the fullest, join the Expansion Mentorship & Training Community.
